Jaum-e-Azadi - Independence Day

Independence Day, August fourteen;
Remember, the Quaid and his deeds.
Not easy to realise, a nation's dream,
When we forgot to sow the seeds.
No reflection of what he gave,
Words, deeds or the path he laid.
A nation, standing at crossroads
In pain 'for our sins we have paid'.
His photos on banners and screens;
His words repeated time and again.
What the Quaid stood for, not many know,
'Unity', 'Faith' and 'Discipline' in vain.
Divided, down, in disarray we stand.
Find his will, strength, and make sure
A leader, a guide or a saviour to come by;
Or else, in ecstasy, a century we must endure.
A nation too has to learn her lesson.
When night falls, follow the 'star';
The Quaid's message, learn by heart,
Let his spirit guide, and a nation we are.
