Guards
|
As the mausoleum shines with the reflection of the light in the darkness of the night,
keeping a vigil over the fortune of the nation, the armed soldier stands
at guard day and night marking his steps of duty on the pink-coloured
marble pavement around the main tomb and perchance thinks of his humble stature before
the lofty walls, variegated and surfaced by the semblance of an offset
brick design. All the three defence services - army, navy and airforce
- perform by turn this duty. The changing of guards by the sound of bugle
is a constant reminder of the call to duty. The guards at present-arms
give a ceremonious display of their own homage to the Quaid who is buried
inside. This military guard is the singular honour that the nation pays
to its great benefactor.
