The Quiad-e-Azam Mausoleum stands in the heart of the city of Karachi - the city of the
Quaid's birth, early childhood
and death. He was born here on December 25, 1876, and recieved his early
education here in Sind Madrasatul Islam. Here he came to be installed
as the first Governor-General when Pakistan was born on August 14, 1947.
This was the city which became the first capital of Pakistan. Muslims
uprooted from all over the subcontinent came here to find a haven of refuge
in the fulfillment in their long-cherished aim of an independent and safe
home where they could carry forward their cultural life under the inspiring
ideals of Islam without any fear or hindrance. When the Quaid-e-Azam died
here on September 11, 1948, it was this city where the sacred body of
the noble soul was buried as a beacon-light of freedom and zest for Islam
for generations to come.
